FDIC Certificate

Answered by:

Question:
We were robbed, and one of the things we were asked for as a part of the investigation was our FDIC certificate. I've never heard of this before and don't understand why this was requested.
Answer:

I've read in the threads that some bankers are experiencing this. It is proof that you are a federally insured institution and that the criminal act of robbing you can be properly classified. The thief needs to have the correct charges brought against him/her. The FDIC certificate isn't something that needs to be displayed, but it should be available at least in your main office.
