We are a "small bank" and don't have to report small business and small farm loans annually. However, in prior years' CRA reports to the Board, the prior CRA officer reported on small business originated loans in amounts less than $1million.

My question is if I'm updating our Board on our loan progress for the year, do I look at the loan amount (less than $1million), or at businesses with gross annual revenue of $1million or less? or both?

All Originated SB/SF Loans # and $
# and $ of Loans to Businesses with Gross Annual Revenues <=$1,000,000
# and $ of Small Loans to Businesses/Farm - Loans <=$100,000
# and $ of Loans in LMI Census Tracts
# and $ of Loans in Distressed/Underserved Census Tracts

A small business loan by definition is a business loan for $1 million or less. I recommend you download the free FFIEC software to collect the data. The software does calculate your results under the various lending tests.

Thanks Tennismom. Our Core system doesn't capture GAR, so we don't have that to slice and dice with.

Many core systems will permit you to create user defined fields. You many want to check and see if yours does if you want to be able to pull reports directly from the core.

Has anybody ever heard of anything that would disqualify a loan as a "small business" loan because the entity receiving the loan is a nonprofit?
