My audit of our ACH program revealed that we aren't doing a good job of distinguishing between a stop payment and an unauthorized transaction (and therefore a WSUPP.)

Can anyone point me towards some good links for info/training/forms? Last year's auditor noted that we were using the wrong forms and it looks like our remedy was to always fill out a WSUPP. Most of them aren't filled out coorrectly anyway.

I could be wrong, but I thought the NACHA Operating Rule Book helped to distinguish between these two (but now that I am thinking about it, maybe it was my audit workpapers). I will have to check it out, because I'm not sure if it does. Do you have the newest version of the rule book?

R08 - one time stop for a transaction in the future (in most cases). Stop Payment form okay (because return time frame is the basic 2-days... again in most cases.)

R07/R10/R05 - can be used to return transactions multiple times. WSUPP required (because return time frames are extended beyond 2-days).

Are you a member of WESPAY? they have good and affordable resources!!

Our bank does not originate therefore, we have a simpler training program (RDFI).

The annual self-assessment guide serves as an annual refresher for operational supervisors.

Then I used the "Basics for ACH receving" booklet to train personnel on the daily processing of ACH activity. This guide has a list of all the return codes with the proper descriptions.

you can also get an updated WSUPP at very low price.

By the way, in no way I'm advertising WESPAY, it's just that they have all the resorces I needed it terms of ACH.

Thanks for the resource. I am not in a western state, but looks like they will sell to outsiders. I am going to suggest they look into other avenues like this. Whatever we did last year certainly didn't help us get compliant this year! Our ACH mgr is not happy.
