Webster Bank, National Association, Waterbury, Connecticut, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit checks bearing the institution's name are in circulation.

The counterfeit items display the proper routing number 092005411, which is assigned to Travelers Express. Webster Bank, National Association, Waterbury, Connecticut, issues official checks through Travelers Express. Some counterfeit items are relatively similar to the authentic checks, while others have more distinguishing characteristics. Authentic checks do not display a telephone number, while one version of the counterfeit items displays a telephone number. Copies of two counterfeit items and an authentic check (VOID) are attached for your review.
