Bank of Clarkson, Clarkson, Kentucky, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit cashier's checks bearing the institution's name are in circulation.

The counterfeit items display the routing number 083904660, which is assigned to the Bank of Clarkson, but are dissimilar to authentic checks. The bank's logo, name and address and a telephone number, which is not associated with the bank, appear in the upper-left corner of the counterfeit items. A description of security features is embedded in the top border, and the words "CASHIER'S CHECK" are printed in the top center.

Authentic checks display the bank's logo, name, city and state in the top-center area. The words "CASHIER'S CHECK" are printed near the lower-left corner, and a security feature statement is printed under the dollar amount line.

Copies of a counterfeit item and an authentic check (VOID) are attached for your review. Be aware that the appearance of counterfeit items can be modified and that additional variations may be presented.
