Counterfeit cashier's checks bearing the name The Citizens State Bank of Cortez, Cortez, Colorado, are reportedly in circulation

The Citizens State Bank of Cortez, Cortez, Colorado, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit cashier's checks bearing the institution's name are in circulation.

The counterfeit items display the routing number 102104587, which is assigned to The Citizens State Bank of Cortez. The items also display "AUTHORIZED SIGNATURE" below the signature line.

Authentic cashier's checks display the bank's logo (an image of the main office building) to the left of the bank's name and address in the top-left corner. The statement "Two Signatures Required for Amounts over $100.000.00" is shown below the signature line.

Copies of a counterfeit item and an authentic check (VOID) are attached for your review. Be aware that the appearance of counterfeit items can be modified and that additional variations may be presented.
