Counterfeit official checks bearing the name Marion Bank & Trust Company, Marion, Alabama, are reportedly in circulation

Marion Bank & Trust Company, Marion, Alabama, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit checks bearing the institution's name are in circulation.

The counterfeit items display the routing number 062201630, which is assigned to Marion Bank & Trust Company. The items also display the words "OFFICIAL CHECK," and the bank's name, city, state and ZIP code appear in the top-center area. Security feature statements are embedded in the top and bottom borders.

Marion Bank & Trust Company does not issue official checks; however, it does issue money orders. Authentic checks are issued as "BANK MONEY ORDERS" and display designed borders on all sides. The bank's name, city, state and ZIP code appear in the lower-left corner.

Copies of a counterfeit item and an authentic bank money order (VOID) are attached for your review. Be aware that the appearance of counterfeit items can be modified and that additional variations may be presented.
