Counterfeit cashier's checks bearing the name The Garrett State Bank, Garrett, Indiana, are reportedly in circulation

The Garrett State Bank, Garrett, Indiana, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit cashier's checks bearing the institution's name are in circulation.

The counterfeit items display the routing number 074903803, which is assigned to The Garrett State Bank. The items are blue and display a security feature statement embedded in the top border and along the bottom border between two padlocks. The word "REMITTER" appears in the lower-left corner above the bank's address and a telephone number, which is not associated with the bank.

Authentic cashier's checks have a yellow basket-weave design. The bank's name, logo ("Since 1893"), address, telephone number and the word "REMITTER" are displayed in the upper-left corner.

Copies of a counterfeit item and an authentic check (VOID) are attached for your review. Please be aware that the appearance of counterfeit items can be modified and that additional variations may be presented.
