Lending in "Indian Territory"

For any bank that has a Native American population in its market, lending to Native Americans should be an important part of the fair lending program. The bank regulatory agencies have teamed up with Fannie Mae and several Native American organizations to offer seminars on sovereign lending. These seminars deal with the special issues of land ownership on reservations, tribal government, and cultural issues that should be considered in lending programs. Seminars will be held in Eugene, Oregon on June 2, Salt Lake City, Utah on June 18, and Boise, Idaho on June 24, 1999. For more information, check your regulator's website.
