One More (Last?) Word on Y2K
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation has another publication designed to help consumers through the Year 2000 confusion.
The most up to date report is called The Year 2000, Your Bank and You: A New Special Report. The agency combined the special report it issued last December (The Year 2000, Your Bank and You) with several articles from FDIC Consumer News that contained Y2K tips to produce this latest report.
The eight-page publication is designed for use by FDIC-insured institutions in their consumer education campaigns for the rest of 1999. It includes details about what regulators are doing, what the banking industry is doing, how to spot and avoid scams, information to consider when making decisions about withdrawing cash at the end of the year, a look at what's being done in regards to direct deposit and automatic payment programs, and a Y2K checklist for preparedness.
