Help From FDIC

Looking for materials to use for customer education? FDIC is releasing a curriculum designed for this use. It is specifically designed for the education of families moving from welfare to work, but may have a much wider application.

"Money Smart" offers basic financial education to help adults currently outside the financial mainstream. The course provides basic financial knowledge and also gives students the information and encouragement needed to become bank customers.

The program is being piloted in the District of Columbia for several months. After this period, FDIC expects to make the program available for general use. It could become a valuable part of your bank's CRA service efforts.
