Outstanding Employee Volunteers

Capital One Financial Corp recently was honored for making its employee volunteer efforts and community service commitments an integral part of company business strategy.

It received a Points of Light Foundation Award for Excellence in Corporate Community Services. In the year 2000, Capital One employees donated blood, served meals at homeless shelters, collected 90,000 pounds of non-perishable food items for food drives, and helped renovate six homes and build 11 new homes through community programs. It also ran a leadership grants program that helped children reach personal dreams, a program to serve meals to 6,000 school children each week, and a scholarship program that provided $250,000 in academic scholarships.
