Appealing To Minority Businesses

Hibernia National Bank, New Orleans has taken its commitment to the Hispanic community to a new level: the company is offering its popular business planning workbook online (www.hibernia.com) in Spanish. The workbook is designed to help entrepreneurs think through the processes of opening and operating a successful small business.

The bank says it has a very good reason for running the booklet in Spanish: According to the Survey of Minority-Owned Business Enterprises conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau, the number of Hispanic- owned firms increased by 30 percent between 1992 and 1997, compared to a 6.8 percent increase for firms overall.
