Double Trouble!
One of our Bankers' Hotline readers reported the following to us:
A woman went into a local department store recently to buy cartons of cigarettes using a credit card.
When the card was swiped through, it came up as "stolen" and the police were alerted.
They responded quickly, taking her into custody.
Meanwhile, her husband was waiting out in the parking lot. The police ran a check on the license of his car and discovered the car had also been stolen!
They were both taken to jail and charged with receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy. She was additionally charged with theft by deception, credit card misuse and forgery.
Bet she believes now that smoking is bad for her!
