Sympathy Award Of The Month

If you have sympathy cards available, you might want to send one to the customer service representatives of Citizens and Southern Corp. in Atlanta.

In the middle of preparation for an end-of-the-month merger of their bank with Sovran Financial Corporation, they had a small problem with a computer program.

It seems their computer "goofed" and sent ten thousand delinquent mortgage payment notices in error. And then, after it had told all these folks that they were in default, it followed up the notice with a dunning letter to each customer!
