Middle East Leads No Envelope Revolution for NCR
According to automated teller machine manufacturer NCR Corporation, the Middle East and Gulf region of the world is leading in the use of that company's ATMs that can accept deposits without using envelopes.
NCR says that more than 600 of its latest units are up and running in those regions of the world. The most recent bank to add the technology is Dubai Islamic Bank, which recently signed a $1.1 million deal to buy ATM software and technology.
The ATMs accept cash notes and checks directly into the machines. Notes are validated, denominations totaled and those totals printed by denomination on customers' receipts. Digital images of checks appear on the ATM screen, and then are printed on the customers' receipts.
