Web Pages: Placement of Names and Logos

For the banks setting up homepages on the Internet, the use of the FDIC logo can become a challenge. The logo must be placed with all deposit listings. However, the FDIC logo must be separate from any investment product information. There is not yet clear guidance from the agencies on how to create a "separate setting" for deposit and investment product information on the Internet. We don't even know for sure what a page is.

There are several creative ways to indicate differences in products. One is that each product could have a separate site on the web page. Thus, choosing to get information about deposits would involve different steps than getting information about non-deposit investment products. The deposit command key could have the FDIC logo with it while the NDIP command key would not, or might have the NDIP disclosure logo near it.

Another technique would be to use icons to identify the type of product. The FDIC insured logo could be an icon placed with the name of each insured deposit product, while an icon indicating risk (alarm, or the universal "not" symbol) could be placed by the name of each investment product.
