Y2K Talking Points

The OCC has posted a Year 2000 message for consumers. It contains four key messages that OCC wants staff to communicate to the public regarding the readiness of the banking system. First, the regulators have worked hard to achieve Y2K readiness and are also prepared for any problems that may occur.

Second, the industry is doing well and should face few if any problems. Third, ask your bank for information. They are the best source of information about their readiness for Y2K.

Finally, we expect the banking systems to operate just as they do today. This is a good message. Pass it on.
