Phishing under the FDIC Cloak

Phishing scams, using the name of a venerable federal agency such as the FDIC or the OCC, is increasingly common. And, people fall for it. FDIC has taken a step to help with consumer protection from phishers. The FDIC has created a web page to inform and warn consumers about phishing. The page is announced in FDIC's Special Alert 11-2005.
