It is Saturday. I'd have thought Mary Beth or Michele would have updated the home page to show 100M+ posts by now.

I wonder how many of the 100k posts are silly little comments like have been posted on this thread? I'm sure we could all post 50 messages per day if we really wanted to.

I'd like to see a separate count of the posts that mean something.

The BOL threads are on the verge of becoming irrelevant for the compliance professional community at large. They seem to be close to simply being a social club for the frequent posters and that's OK, but let's not tout the number of posts without being real about the content.

Perhaps we need a Truth in Posting Content regulation, huh?

What?????

This isn't a social club. It is a free exchange of information. If friendships/social comments develop, then it is because we are human. What would BOL (or any exchange) be if people were not allowed to add comments?

You will notice that I rarely participate in the Watercooler forum or in "chats" like this one, but how dare I (or anyone else) say that they are wrong.

I take GREAT exception to your comment:

I, as well as MANY others, wish to thank BOL for setting up this exchange. BOL is far from becoming irrelevant!

Adding some fun and friendship to the mix is one reason the board is so popular and is the biggest success to date.

Yes there are many posts that are not compliance related. Similar to the chit chat before or after a meeting, at a conference, etc.

If this were pure work related, who'd spend much time here? It would have the sparse postings of Compliance HQ.

Learn to read the posts you want and skip the water cooler. Then enjoy the knowledge.

Well said Andy. Other compliance boards have come and gone. BOL has done it the best. Too bad Anon doesn't appreciate it.

I don't think we should ever underestimate the "networking" element of this forum. I have always felt that when I attend a seminar, the people you meet and business relationships you develop during the breaks and at lunch are nearly as important as the seminar content itself. This is the same thing, only on a global scale.

If my greatest contribution to this web site was to serve as "the posting police," I too would remain anonymous.

It's a well marked frivolous thread. Don't like it? Don't read it.

RANT!!!!

I too disagree with the previous anon stating BOL is on the verge of becoming irrelevant. The search engine is a great tool to help stick to business when necessary and the frivolty can be just plain fun. "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." Thank You to all you BOL'ers!
