I think the group as a whole did a religious song last year during the finale.. or many Idol Gives back.. was Shout to the Lord.

What's wrong with religious songs? Have you watched the show before? While none of the winners sang gospel, Mandisa, George Huff, and many others went on from Idol to record Gospel albums. Moreover, religious songs have been sung even in the top 10.

Yes, but I thought they were looking for a pop singer to be the American Idol, not a gospel singer.

Aretha Franklin was a gospel singer before she became a pop singer.

Is Carrie Underwood "pop"? Nope, she's country, and has written a Christian song. And she's the most successful winner of American Idol.

I think the only limit for crappiness is whether or not it makes good TV. Otherwise, crappy is as crappy does! laugh

Michael, my intention was not to have an argument with you.

I just have an opinion.

Opinions are like noses - everyone has one and they're all different.

Yes, and some are wrong, like your opinion that Idol wannabes shouldn't sing religious songs. In fact, Idol is a great launching point for Gospel singing careers, Country careers, and Broadway careers moreso than it is for pop singers.

You have to look at the context.

Since IncarceratedBengalsFan became the resident expert on, well, apparently everything.

When an "opinion" is about a fact, and is not factual. For instance, if I was of the opinion that America's Next Top Model is a cooking show, I'd be wrong, just as anyone who thinks American Idol is only about finding Pop stars is wrong.

What did everyone think about the first night of Hollywood auditions? I wish they had shown a lot more actual singing. And, Bikini Girl has got to go! Simon conveniently forgets his mantra that "it is a SINGING competition" at times.

I'm with ya, Hoosierland. I thought the episode was actually pretty boring. Looks like tonight will be a typical group song episode.

Agree with both of ya. I at least wanted to see the auditions of those who didn't get aired on the city auditions!

She's no worse than the guy who can't decide who he is. Her attitude is pathetic, and she won't make it to the final 24, but hey, if they want to keep her around for laughs, they can, just like they are keeping Norman Gentle around.

I was actually bored last night. Let's get to the competition, not the audition.

In the Snow :)
Last night was quite boring.

Bikini girl stinks. To keep her around just for ratings is wrong.

I really really like Rose, but I really really don't like that she sounds like Fiona Apple. frown
