Still Smiling,

Sorry to hear you didn't make it, but good luck this spring! At least you have your scores so you know the areas to work on.

Yes, that was the pass/fail cutoff of the November test.

Boatn Shasta,

The cut off score changes each time the test is administered. Basically, some questions are thrown out (based on error rates) and the grading is somehow statistically curved in efforts to make it fair for everyone. As sewanee said, the cut off for the Nov 5th test was 71. However, I have seen other tests had lower cut-offs such as 69.

Woo hoo

I read through this thread again and realized that it took me a whole year to get it together and actually get serious about taking this test.

Still Smiling, are you going for it again?

I'm up to my ears in studying.

I was told that it takes a while to get the results because they compare all of the tests to measure how everyone answered the questions and use that as part of the grading. For example, if they see that 70 percent answered a certain question incorrectly they give everyone the point for that question.

I took the test on June 9th, and I haven't received notification yet. I hope something will come this week.

I am taking the Exam this coming Friday, Nov. 8th. I took the ABA online course and scored 98% out of 100 questions. I took all the retook all the individual sections of the manual until I passed. Now I have a week left to study, should I focus on reading the sections over again OR just keep reading the questions from the manual and pretest?

I think you just need to breathe and relax until Friday.

I would suggest going over all areas that you don't deal with on a daily basis. If you are well versed in loans but aren't as well versed in BSA, study the BSA sections or vice versa. That is the method I used to study my last few days and it worked for me. It sounds like you did a great job on the study course and that is good practice. Good Luck!

Agreed!! It's a pass/fail and you don't need to shoot for an A+ on the test. Sounds like you've got it covered.

Here for the moment
I just got my results this week, the notice didn't include how many passed or how many failed, but it did say for this particular test, you needed to have a 71% or better to consider "passing". I think that percentage changes a little with each test and what questions they decide to toss or keep.

I was exploring Compliance roles as a whole and was wondering the scope of compliance in hedge funds or broker dealers and the career growth in such roles. Can a compliance officer with some Series exams and CRCM rise up the ladder quickly? Is it a department powerful enough to command a director level salary ?

Since this is site for bankers, I doubt that most would have any expansive knowledge of the hedge fund or broker dealer environment.

The operation and culture of investment banks is totally different from retail/commercial banks and there's no official definition of the word "compliance." Given these differences, we can't offer much insight.
