Does anyone know the reason someone would be issued an interim NY Driver's license? Customer claims to be living in NJ.

Sometimes they are issued to cover time lapses.

For example, my license expires 5/6/11, but I procrastinate and go to the DMV today, 5/5/11. They issue me an interim license until the real one comes in the mail (since otherwise I'd be driving around with an expired license). They are usually good for 90 days or something like that.

Thanks for joging the memory AG the expire in 90 days; however, the expiration date listed (in the exp section)is the exp for the new lic. It does say exp in 90 day elsewhere on the license.

Thanks, I didn't realize NY DLs were received through the mail.

I changed my address and wanted a new photo for my ID. I was issued an interim paper license, they took the license I had on site. My new license came in about 2 weeks.

and yes, NY DL are mailed through US Postal mail.
