Not sure about the price, but i imagine the availability is an even bigger problem.

Well, that's great then. Had people in Houston inquiring a few weeks ago about buying some alfalfa up here because they couldn't find any there and local people here are having a hard time finding it too.

We are on track to tie or beat the record for straight 100+ days. Record is 42; we'll be at 38 today. Weather forecaster said this AM if we don't get some rain, we'll be looking at 100 or near that until mid-September. ::shudder::

I know of many Texas and Oklahoma ranchers who are selling livestock due to the cost of feeding. They are having to buy hay because pastures are dried up and not producing.

She'll enjoy Weatherford. One of our former Branch Managers is a graduate and really enjoyed his time there. She can expect lots of cold, windy days in the winter and lots of hot, windy days in the summertime.

Never thought i'd find 102 to be a relief, but it actually feels cooler here today in relation to the 107-110 we've been having.

Down here too. It was cooler outside (due to the breeze) than it is inside when I went to lunch.

I can't even imagine that heat for so long. When we have Santa Ana winds that drive the heat to 100+, it usually is only for 3 days or so.

What is your electricity bill for a month?

Too d*mn high. Esp considering we have a 2-story house w 2 separate AC units (one for up, one for down.) Thank god for smooth-billing programs (averaged billing over the year.)

FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line
I have budget billing and love it! When my heat pump blew out, I waited until May to replace it but was still paying those regular budget bill amounts. Now that I have a new heat pump = not only is my bill WAY lower, but I haven't had a bill since June - won't have to pay until september when the excess is mostly used up. That covers everything the city provides - power, water, sewage, garbage pickup, security light...

Power costs about 13 cents a KWH here, so if you use 2,500 KWH the bill is $325 a billing cycle.

Water is expensive too. But we look golden when it comes to using natural gas for heating. The hot water tanks don't come on much either when it is 150 degrees in the attic.

It's 106 here now at almost 4:30. My electric bill was around $429 and I shut off 2 of the bedrooms. I also have gas hot water heater. My daughter is total electric and about 500 less square feet than I do and her bill was over $250.

The Sovereign State Of Oklahom...
Wild and rocking night in OKlahoma last night. Parts of Kansas and MO too. 100 MPH straight winds, torrential rain (yay) and lightening from the infernal regions! Lot of people without power a few lightning sparked fires, Semi's tossed over like toys and my daughter just about got smushed by a 45 foot tall oak
(just about being the operative words, she's fine).
Just another dull night in Oklahoma!
It cooled off to about 75 for a bit. Should 102 today. frown

I saw the lightning a bit off to the northeast at about 11:00. It looked pretty vicious. It was still over 100 here.

Forecast is all 105+ for the next 10 days, but we have 10 days of rain chances with 3 days of T-Storm chances. We may get our turn.

We got at least 1/2" of rain or more (it was raining sideways) and 2" of lighting at my house last nite. Mother Nature also gifted us with a beat up stock tank that thankfully missed the house, shop and vehicles. Still almost 18k without power in Oklahoma right now. There are miles and miles of power lines down, loss of many barns and sheds, roofers will be busy for a while and lots of trees lost. Some have been without since yesterday early evening. Hopefully the 110 degree heat won't return while so many are without power.

*swoon* Y'all, it's a miracle!! It's currently 84 at my house!!! AND there might be some rain in a little bit.

(Although now that we are only 2 days from breaking the all-time record for consecutive days over 100, I'm sort of disappointed that we're not going to make it. We made it 40 straight days, why not go on another 3.....)
