I do mine in the morning...basically so I don't have to do them in the evening. Been doing chari dips too. Been working on getting my cardio in, but that's been a little harder to get into. I'm so exceited! I can actually start to see the outline of my triceps! And someone told me yesterday that I look smaller....my scale still doesn't think so, but that's ok. Yay Dani! Your mirror and the way your clothes fit frequently tell you more than the scale. Way to go!

The battery in my scale has died. I'm not replacing it until I've been running for a month. Or two. My clothes tell me I'm turning into a lazy fluffy mess.

Here's something to consider Revel in the Beautiful Process - Rebel against Quantifying Beauty.excerpt Weight is irrelevant if you’re not fighting in a weight class. Lower fat by upping muscle. Stop worrying about weight, and start increasing the coals in the furnace: muscle. This is especially true for women, who naturally have less genetically given muscle mass. You cut, and you’ll gain (skinny fat.) Build to lose fat. Stoke the furnace, and throw away the scale. If you need a measure, how do your clothes fit today?

I weighed myself for the first time in awhile this morning. I started out at 217 and am down to 211. This is the first real weight-loss result I've seen as I immediately dropped to 214/215 but didn't move from there. Really, I attribute much of this to the work I did over the weekend, but I will also say that I do feel much better this morning than I have for the last week. I did all 32 this morning in three sets. 15, 9 and 8. I'll likely go back to 4 sets to give my shoulder another rest period but I LOVED the fact that 15 was easy for me. I stopped because I didn't want to overdo it. So, we were wheeling stuff out of the U-Haul last night. I had two strong friends doing a good part of the work, but the arcade game lurched and I thought it was coming off the dolly in my direction. I grabbed it to steady it and DESTROYED my shoulder. It hurt like crazy last night and all through the night, but it felt great this morning and only aches slightly right now. Scared the carp out of me! Also, I think I popped the cyst in my left wrist. Holy Mother of Fitness, that hurt!!

I know you want faster progress dude, but you are really doing great!! Moving the scale is killer, but as Jen mentioned, go with how the clothes fit, what the mirror see's and comments form people. Changes are often much more than the scale can detect. Scales only detect the weight of a given mass, at given moment. Thats all. Ibuprofen buddy, keep with it!
BTW, the avi....too cool!

I've weighed almost daily, every morning since August or so. Initially, it was great encouragement and showed me that my efforts were producing results. The past few months, the scale hasn't moved much, and initially that was a depressing thing that threw a wrench in my motivation, but since I've continued to feel stronger and run further, it's obvious that progress is still happening. Clothes still get looser, so it's become increasingly clear that the scale is now just an indicator of how out of control I got on my "free day" and how my water consumption is balancing with what I lose during workouts.
I have a good friend that places her entire analysis of her diet/exercise on her weight, and since it's been a constant number for weeks, she's very discouraged. I keep telling her that the scale doesn't really mean anything and her healthy decisions are doing her good even if the scale doesn't change. Also, she's tiny and has no reason to complain about the numbers she's seeing...but that's a whole different arguement that I can never win lol.

I don't think it's anything that serious, just a woman being self-conscious when she has no reason to be(sadly, all too common!). I sent her the link and told her to read it! She's 5'4"ish and 121 lbs at 30 years old. On the lower end of the "healthy" weight for her height and age, certainly has nothing to be too upset about! Alas, none of my science and health talk matters, because it's obviously malarchy!

B Cubed, I am not taking any meds at all...well at least no pain meds. My doc enjoys prescribing Motrin and freely hands out the stuff that I really, really can't handle (Lortab, etc). Anyway, I have some Amrix from a previous issue, and I think I'll take one of those every other night or something like that, and I'll be seeing the doc for Motrin/Ibuprofin.
The Avi is a 1969 Super Bee (aka Dodge Coronet, all souped up). My first car was a '69 Dodge Coronet. Same look but different color and minus the Super Bee stripe. My cousin had the 69 Charger RT. The Super Bee was the bomb! I suggest the ibuprofen on a regular basis (twice per day) not as much for the pain control as for the anti-inflamitory and healing qualities. Lor-tab is fine if you are in dibilitating pain and a doctor recommends it. But ibuprofen should do fine.

Okay, so a guy I've played pool with a few times over the years posted on FB that he has lost something like 30 pounds since Jan 6 on the HCG diet.
The claimed science is intriguing, but it still just seems dangerous. It obviously is working for him and has for many, but is it risky? Anything involving altering your hormone balances is risky. I've known people that saw success with this, but as I recall, it comes with a 5-700 calorie/day diet (apparently it greatly reduces your feeling of hunger) which is clearly not healthy. Research this, you'll of course see places say there are no ill effects, but odds are you're not getting truth. It claims you'll have altered hormonal production even after you stop taking the stuff (which scares me) and that will help prevent you from gaining back the lost weight afterward. It seems like a quick and easy fix, but I can assure you it's not the way to go. Weight loss and health is not easy, otherwise we wouldn't have to work at it. The tried and true (time consuming and difficult) methods are the only ones that are really going to make the difference in the long haul. Besides, this stuff is cultivated from the waste of pregnant women (if not synthetically created) and that's just freaking weird.

Thought i'd update since i asked the question in here.....i tried the "planking" using correct form....what a killer! I'm not timing myself, just going as long as i can (which is in the neighborhood of 45 seconds to a minute). Anyway....thanks for the instructions and if i can hang with them, i know they're gonna help....you can feel the burn for sure.

I cannot believe this studd is even allowed! Anybody will lose weight on 500 calories a day! They do it all over the world and its called starvation! Please people, a balanced diet and exercise....it works, it is safe and it wil last a lifetime! Yes I know about a dozen people that used the drops. All of them lost a bunch of weight! All but one of them now weighs 10-15 pounds MORE than they did before. GRRRRR!
