I am 100% confident that you are capeable of doing them.

In theory, one arm has to be twice the strength that is require to do a single push-up. It would then stand to reason that if one can do 366 push-ups in a single day, a one-armed push-up should be possible.

However, I question if I live in this realm of reality...I can certainly manage the going down part, but getting back up is the tough part!

My kiddo turned to me last night and reminded me that "we needed to do our push-ups." So there we were, "watching" Penguins of Madagascar and getting our push-ups in. And giggling. I don't know why it makes her giggle to watch me do them laugh

Maybe if you posted a video of you doing the pushups, we could help in determining the source of her glee? laugh

a 1-arm push-up does take more strength, for sure, but it's not a whole lot more. structure, core strength, maintaining a solid body, are all actually more important than pure strength.

Also, the training progression is pretty much the same as any other push-up; start up on an elevated surface, go from your knees, etc.

Agreeed. 1 armed pushups are much more about core strength and balance than sheer arm strength.

HG has it. There is more tricep and shoulder in it, but its really just about getting used to the position, which is awkward.
Havent done them in years, but I think I want to do it just for fun. I will stick with the program, but add them to the other oddball pushups I'm doing. Its motovation, and motivation makes you do stuff! laugh

I am not going to lie, its hard to keep up with all these push ups. I do break them up but I often leave them all for the end of the day. I cannot believe we have 11 more months of pushups that will get increasingly harder and harder to do every SINGLE DAY. Ugh, I think I need a tshirt. Maybe that will help me do stuff smile

I rewarded my foray into a new and better life in fitness with a day of snowboarding. I was surprised that even after only three weeks, I felt strong and could do more tricks and such with that new core strength. It definitely helps "motivate" me to continue.

Bring on February...

Good for you to take a break instead of giving up form for the sake of just getting it done!

I know your competitive nature, but you did right. And you did them!! You already know the strength will come, just keep at it like you are! Nice job Jen!

It was a lot of fun and the conditions were GREAT, minus the cold bitter wind. THank you for the encouragement...that is the ultimate goal. So many times in the past I will just stop and then wonder what could have been. not this time!!!

Great job with the push ups Jen!!!

I notice a lot folks commenting on hating to have to get their pushups done at the end of the day. I really encourage everyone to do what they can as soon as you get up and moving (sretch a little first).
It really helps to get you going and you already know that you are part way there. I do more at the office and later at the gym, I know BOatn does hers at the office. Now not everybody can do them at work, but if you knock them out early (or at least part) you will be suprised at what else you get done!
I really cant begin to tell all of you how impressed I am. I brag on this group at the gym all the time. You guys are motivating more people than you know!

I do mine in the morning...basically so I don't have to do them in the evening. smile Been doing chari dips too. Been working on getting my cardio in, but that's been a little harder to get into. I'm so exceited! I can actually start to see the outline of my triceps! And someone told me yesterday that I look smaller....my scale still doesn't think so, but that's ok. smile
