I am incredibly jealous! I swore off on marathon's ever again, but that would be the experience of a lifetime! And yeah Matt, I think they are world class athlete's! The guy I got my bike from competed in it. Its probably why I bought the bike! At least IT'S been there.....

Whichever one is mostly bald (not gracefully) and has a gut!
Unrelated point, my arches are sore! Breaking in new shoes, they got their first run today, maybe intervals wasn't the best option, but oh well.

I've worn them around a decent amount, they're casual enough looking that I can wear them out and not look too weird, so that's good. It was only a total of 3 miles, and really only a little over 2 of that was running, so I don't think it was too much damage. We'll see what they feel like tomorrow though They won't be going for a long run Saturday I don't think, not yet.

Haha. Warm up. Stretch. Do you think I'm some sort of amateur?? I don't count warm-ups or cool downs in my mileage, don't want myself to think I'm better than I am or anything like that! And of course I stretch, usually right after I shut off my alarm, while yawning!

But once they start burning, they're just as good as they were back in the 70's? Wait, what are we talking about here??!

But once they start burning, they're just as good as they were back in the 70's? Wait, what are we talking about here??! Burning joints of course........ Knees of the 70's did not know pain. But legs of the 21st Century are much stronger, even at 55.

That's a bit odd to me...I've never had to mess with "breaking in" new running shoes. I can take my ASICS out on a 10 miler for the first run and feel great. Are you sure they're the right shoe for you?

Are you sure that you have a right AND a left shoe? Is the right shoe is on the right foot left shoe on the left foot? I know this has been an issue in the past.....

Hey, that was your wife's fault I'm pretty sure! Every time I get new shoes, it takes a few days of wear (usually I just wear them around the house or out for errands etc) before they get comfortable, especially on the outer edge of my arches. They feel fine today, though my knees are a little sore. I attribute that to playing an extra set in the wet sand last night though, nothing to do with the shoes

BB1....when are we going for a bike ride? HHH in Wichita Falls on the 25th or are you coming down next weekend for a jaunt through the Refuge?
Happy is trying to convince me that I can handle the Metric Century (65 miles) and is willing to slow down for me to help pull me along...you in?
I'm a bit away from even a 50 miler right now, but my kids leave for Korea tomorrow, and I'm going to start riding a good 20 miles each evening. Got out of the loop. I am up for a ride.....as soon as my caboose is a little more saddle tough and I have a little more road experience on the bike. When and where is this metric to take place?

Just registered for another on Sept 1 that I'm hoping to break 29:xx on. Congrats! I have my first coming up Saturday, and I've noticed BurntSienna has a first 5K in October. So, let me ask all the runners out there: What advice do you have for a first 5K? I've been reading websites, and acquiring crucial knowledge like "Don't wear the race shirt until after you've completed the race" and "Make sure you have pins to attach your bib." (I thought I could just tie it around my neck like I was going to eat lobster.) Also, it's probably too late for Saturday, but what's the best way to improve speed?
