What's your 5K PR? I can predict a 1/2 pace from that with proper training.

Do fish oil supplements really help joint pain? I take them for the cholesterol benefits, but didn't know they help joints. One thing that has really surprised me as I've started this running madness is that I don't have the knee pain I hear other 50-somethings complaining about. The ankle I broke a year ago started aching about an hour after last week's 5K, but I forgot about it later, so I guess it stopped hurting.

Which one? blush Little Miss OCD tracks her mileage like crazy, uses the McMillan Running Calculator to project paces and determine goal training paces, and has MULTIPLE training plans for various distances. smile

The juice is antioxident loaded and helps with inflamation. I'd read about it in Runner's World and after noticing my boss (competing in the Ironman World Championship again next month) uses it religiously and having some talks about it, picked up a bottle a month or two ago and started just taking about 1.5 oz after my runs. The fish oil is fish oil! All kinds of great health benefits. I only tend to take it after my longer Saturday runs when I know I'm going to feel it in my knees the next day and when I forget to, I definitely notice the difference.

PR for the last 9 years occurred a couple weeks ago, 23:22. I've looked at a couple sites that did estimations and believe it was suggesting I could do a 1:48 or something like that.

When I was thinking about doing the one in Oct, I was hoping to beat 2:10! Turns out I won't be beating that frown

I'm sure I can, but will I? That's a whole different question. Would you advise intermediate races? Pacing would probably be my biggest challenge (and keeping my feet awake, still need to fix that issue...sigh), so it seems maybe doing some 10 or 15k's would be good, or 8 miles maybe. There'a 15k coming up end of next month, that could be interesting. But then I can't do the costumed 5k that's also part of that day...decisions!

You're a lot more awesome than me too, that's certainly a factor here laugh

I've been training with powdered sugar donuts. Run 16 miles in the rain...drive to McDs for coffee and the convenience store for donuts. ENJOY!
