Ok fitness gurus - I've got a question for you.
I have exercise induced asthma and there are times when I go running that I have a hard time regulating my breathing which leads to cough and gasping, hence asthma. Happens maybe one run out of every five or so. Sometimes it will eventually even out and other times, I end up scrapping the run and just walk instead.
So speed ahead to this week. I finally bought a cheaper heart rate monitor. Used it twice. On my first use, my rate stayed in the 83-86%, around the 150s-160s. My second run. . . breathing issues. The monitor spiked 5 times during my first mile and a half to 210-260 bpm. Lasted about 30 seconds each time and I did slow down to a fast walk.
I asked my allergist that since asthma can increase heart rate, it this is what I should expect or not and she said that was a little too high and to make an appt with my primary.
Any insight? Will probably still follow up.
I've had all of the typical blood/chem panels done and everything came back normal last year. only issues with blood pressure was with my 1st pregnancy and now with my new boss. I'm afraid to google. . .

I was thinking a women's shirt of something like "I make boob sweat sexy". What say you all?
Liver, if you don't see a shirt you like, let me know. It is easy enough to make one.

I need to remember to check out the shirts at home since it is of course blocked here at work. I need to also check out the fb page. I was proud of myself last night 24 of my 26 pushups without taking a break! The fact that I was ticked off at the hubby at the time probably helped.

I'm afraid to google. . . Go see your primary. As for my initial thoughts - I would be curious as to your pace on the two runs...are you using a Garmin/Polar/Ect that would tell? What other factors were in play? Wind, temperature, diet, hydration? SOOOOO much plays into it and I think you ahve to track it for a long time to get a good idea of normal for your body. IMO your "easy run" pace should keep your heart rate MUCH lower...like at 65%. That should be conversational pace, you should be able to give 3-4 word answers easily wihtout getting short of breath.

I ordered my shirt finally! An orange version of the one B^3 got, because I have too many grey shirts and not enough bright ones that scream "Please don't run me over!"
I'm looking forward to it, and hope it's skin tight!

A month! Wow! Everybody had been at it for a month!! That is almost considered a habit! I think you should all give yourselves a pat on the back! If you can get your newly enhanced arms back around there!!

I completely missed the day where my push-ups matched my age! Darn, I was going to make a big hurrah of it or something.
I'm going to have to start counting mine soon, to make sure I'm actually hitting the goal for the day. My MWF workout has T-push ups, push up rows and decline push ups, but it's for an amount of time, not a count. So this week is 40 seconds (going up by 5 seconds per week) and by the time I get to decline, my arms are about falling off. Good times!

Agree with Jen. See the Primary! It sounds a bit like a pace issue. Like maybe you are pushing it a little and the heart and lungs are still trying to catch up. But as she said, so many variables! What are your alergies? Was pollen high? dust? mold? how well did you sleep? what did you eat? Bring the pace to the level Jen suggests and let your body adapt, then start pushing the pace. Theres no hurry, you have the rest of your life.
