True for shorts and shirts too. Tech cloth will save you from bleeding. It didnt save my inner arms last month. The stupid seams on that tank top rubbed quarter sized holes in my arms. It was NOT pretty.

Thanks for all your enchouraging words!
I have become a huge fan of Glide. DR Scholls also makes a smaller lube stick that is great for getting in between toes.

Anyone want to share links to cute running outfits?
It's probably time to get some Glide. I didn't anticipate going 9 miles, but I found the groove with my run and didn't want to give it up. Will look into non cotton socks as well. I was expecting a little chafing from the heart rate strap since it's done it before, but this time it rubbed in a few other spots as well.

NP, I love Under Armour gear, but I am not running nearly as far as these folks. The most I do is 5 miles.

We finally sucked it up and joined the VIP membership at Road Runner sports. We each got a new pair of sneakers, some gear, and some Gu, and it paid for itself. Yay! I still won't buy most of their clothing, it's hard to pay their prices when I can get similar things on the Target Clearance rack.
Speaking of new sneakers, we both got the Asics Cumulus - because we are that adorable. (Just kidding - they are just awesome shoes!) I got some new insoles, so maybe that will help my cranky knee, and when the rain stops I plan on going out and using all my new stuff.

<--- under armour too to prevent chafing, and is super cute!
Do the socks really make that much of a difference? My treadmill crapped out on me last week, and now I am on the country roads/hills. After three days of that, all kinds of new blisters that I have not had to deal with in awhile.
I just don't want to buy expensive socks, and in the end, just bought expensive socks.

I just don't want to buy expensive socks, and in the end, just bought expensive socks. IMO The socks make a huge difference. I've found some good non-cotton running socks at stores like TJMaxx and Ross Dress 4 less. For that matter I've found a lot of my tech clothes for running at those types of stores. VWgirl - I am sure you'll do fine, enjoy the taper. I am so looking forward to mine but I've still got a 23 standing in my way in a couple of weeks

90% of my shorts are Nike. Tops are a mix of Nike and UA. I shop at the outlet mall and REFUSE to pay full price for anything except shoes. I found some great Nike running socks at Shoe Carnival that were 2 for one. I have a couple pair of Nike "anti blister" socks that were $11 a pair. They are saved for long runs.
Also...my Body Glide isnt the running store brand. It's from a...um...grown up shop. It's called Pjur Body Glide, you can order it on Amazon. It's silicone based and doesnt sweat off as easily as some things I've tried when super sweaty or getting rained on. Another runner shared the secret with me and let me try some. My toes will be forever greatful.

I'm sure when going to the store and taking it up to the counter, they buy the "hey, I'm just using it for my feet while running!" excuse.
Probably a little less common than the "it's for my friends bachelor party" excuse though, I'm sure they appreciate hearing something different now and then!

thanks I typically only run with my iPod on the treadmill, which is never any more, or rarely if I'm running alone in town and then I only use one. I want to be aware of my surroundings at all times, there are some really stupid drivers in my twon. My favorite headphones are Skull Candy, I get them at Target. They have the adjustable rubber thingies that go in your ear and stay in well. I also loop the cord around my sports bra strap to help avoid the bouncing around. That may be part of the reason they stay in as well as they do.

To add on to Jen's comments, I find I have to take the buds out somewhere after mile 2 to wipe them down. I also wipe my ears before putting them back in. That seems to help keep them in as well.

I never run with earbuds off of the treadmill - my rants about that are well documented. That being said, I can not keep conventional buds in my ears while on the dreadmill. I have a pair that have ear clips that hold them in place. Not stylish but very effective.
When not running, I have Skull Candy as well, my daughter loves them too. They come with a lifetime waranty, hers were replaced no questions asked.

I can't keep the skull candies in my ear to save my life. Not even while just sitting here! I think I have exceptionally small ear holes or something. I love the clothes from Nike the best, expecially the pants/shorts.

Treadmill, I set my phone in the cup holder thing and just let it blare instead of messing with earbuds at all, the luxury of having a workout room to yourself. I also have an iHome down there for when I'm doing the rest of my workout and need it loud enough to hear over my manly grunting noises as I heft the massive weights!
When I'm running on closed trails (no road crossing), I use an arm band that I hate and the regular Apple white earbuds that came with my phone. I think as Jen mentioned, a big part of it is how much slack there is in the cord. If they aren't bouncing around much, they don't seem to have an issue with falling out. But, I can also look forward pretty much the whole time and don't have to turn my head much, so I'm sure that's a factor as well.
