That's true, just head to the park or nearest high school and have at it!

Then when their parents notice, RUN!!! Kind of gets you the best of both worlds...

Or stand your ground and practice the ancient art of the Tao of Jeet Kune Duck! laugh

Mani, I saw you had a 5 mile run...way to go!

Jen is back up and running the long distances after her flat tire awhile back...awesome!

I still can't quite run around the block. frown

Thanks Pup...although I'm sure if you had something or someone to chase after, you'd make it around the block or even further!! laugh

There you go Pup! I don't think it'll get your heart rate up in quite the same way, but I'll be sure to push you to your limit!

There's always whatever is on the carppy cable TV at the gym. That's the only TV time I get and I usually stare at the screen while I listen to music.

Maybe I should load a movie on the ipod??

If it would require you to stare down at it, it might not be optimal. I know people that read, but they're barely jogging really, I can't imagine doing it during a run. Podcasts or whatever the official name of a book on tape on an iPod is a good option too! Get some of those awesome romance novels or something!

Does "The Art of War" (Sun Tzu, 2nd Centrury BC), count as a romance novel? No?
Ok, I'm good.

You didn't specify if you get all flustered and uncomfortable when you read it...I wouldn't rule it out quite so easily!

So, I went to the gym this morning. Oddly, I did not pushups while I was there. I was a bit lost, but I did find some cool machines that I will utilize for a lot of exercises.

I got on what looks like a cross country skier machine, but the steps were kinda weird...destroyed my quads in no time. Then I tried a treadmill but within about 3 minutes, my calves had doubled in size and I had to stop.

<-------out of shape.

I'll get my pushups in this evening. smile

Not gonna lie, I was the 2nd youngest person in there, and I was in the worst shape out of everyone in there, including the hot woman in yoga pants. smile

78th day of the year. I have managed to get all the required pushups done in one set so far, but it is definitely getting tougher! Some days I make 83 fairly well others I collapse at 80. I keep hoping that I will hit that magic "breakthrough moment" when 100 becomes easy......ummm not yet.
I need to do more sets during the day. I think if I can manage 300 for a day, I can bump it up. Running more and leaning up has helped a bunch. Still wanting to get a weighted vest for my non required sets. Just haven't gotten the chance yet.
All of you keep driving me because you guys are staying after it!!

I'm really feeling my extra sets from yesterday, made today's completely suck!

I tried to do some handstand ones at the end of my stuff yesterday, I'm sure it would have been quite amusing to watch. I didn't give myself a concussion, so that was good...but I couldn't even get into a handstand to start them. I figured it was because I'd already done a bunch...but yeah, I couldn't do them today either. I need to just drop another 20 pounds and maybe my shrimpy arms will be able to handle it!

I can do about 25 or so decline, with my hands on weights so I have to go down further, but that's about it. Been mixing up staggered arms and one arm raised up about 6" further than the other to mix up the muscle focus, hoping that I'll be able to do some one-arms before I get to the end of the year.

You'l get it Matt! You are doing all the right things. The handstand pushups kind of take some mental adjusting as well as the strength. Start with just holding the handstand for 30 sec and gradually increasing the angle on your declines. You'll get it. Just takes a little time and desire. You have plenty of that. smile

I do have a lot of time, yes. Hopefully several more decades! So, I probably shouldn't rush it or what else will I have to look forward to in life? laugh

I think I'm going to take up flag-football this Spring too now, never played football in any form, so it could be interesting! Or maybe I'll end up broken and it'll ruin everything else... that's another thing I have to think about.

Life is so much easier when spent on the couch!

You can exsist on a couch, but you can't live. smile

After I gave up on being a college football stud (humor font), I played rugby. The shirts were cool, but go with flag football. You will get damaged less! laugh

We'll see. 3 years of sand volleyball and I haven't managed to injure myself at all (here's hoping I continue my streak!), but I suppose it depends on how agressively people pursue my flags. Didn't even know we had a league around here until someone asked me about it last week. Of course, it's on Sundays, my day of "rest", but oh well!
