That is too cool TJ!! I can remember when my daughters started working out and running...makes you feel pretty darned good. The youngest is thinking about running a Warrior Dash with me and is doing a Color Run in June. You teach your kids whether you want to or not. You taught yours something good.
I wonder how many miles a Guiness is......?

Guiness is a pretty low calorie beer. You're better off going with that over a heffe. It fianlly stopped raining = I'm running today. TJ, you must be so happy!!!

What a shame!!!!! I love to run after a few beers, before a few beers....if I could I'd bring my beer with me, but I would spill too much.

You probably burn nearly two per mile, all those muscles burn 'em up fast. The two activities should make your heart awful healthy too!

SOOO sore today! And if this is anything liek the last time, I'll be sore the next 3-4 days. Should you or should you not work out again when you are still sore? Is there any rule about that?

I say yes, depending on how you do it. Always helps me to limber up and use those sore muscles, but you don't want to push too hard since the soreness indicates they are being rebuilt.
Focus on other muscle groups if you can, stretch, jog, stuff like that and whatnot.

Maybe a good day for some Yoga or less-intense exercise.

What they ^^^ said! Its the lactic acid build up and I believe some micro tearing of the muscle (science varies on this). You can still workout and should. But warm up and stretching are very important. As you begin to workout again, it will help move the lactic acid out of the muscle. Yo need to take in some protein immediately (within 30 min) post workout. Those muscles are like a sponge right then. An ideal post workout drink is plain old everyday 2% chocolate milk! Ibuprofen twice a day will really help also.

Dip, I love that combo!! I keep 2% chocolate milk all the time. Also keep protein, soy milk and premixed shakes and my mixer here at the office. I sort of destroy my excuses for poor eating before I get a chance!

So you don't agree with the idea that chocolate milk is the devil and needs to be out of schools??
In my fantastic food drawer I have: plain almonds, some cans of salmon, freeze dried corn (insert Iowa joke here), some protein bars and a few kinds of tea...I'm weird like that.

You'd be surprised at how good it is. It's got sweet in the name, so it can't taste bad, and it's corn.
In my defense, it's been there two+ months and came as a joke Christmas gift.

Increasing my miles to get up to 10. So I ran 4.25 today, did 30 push ups and 10 chair dips on my already sore triceps. In drawer: raw nuts, Kashi cereal, tea, crushed red pepper, oatmeal and an emergency can of soup.....and bubbles. Can't forget the bubbles.

I also have a collection of 4 cheese knives, a large steak knife and two cutting boards. They're only used for intended purposes though, not for threatening people

The devil is in the morons that dont learn anything about fitness or nutrition. And they are doing such a great job, because there is no adolescent obesity problem...(Yup, sarcasm). Good drawer Matt!

Like the number of gym classes that don't even require kids to change any more? Ugh.
I think we could use kids as renewable energy sources. If we all had stationary bikes at home hooked up to batteries, we could turn calories into wattage and use it to power the home! (Yes, I realize the logistics of this are absurd, but it's an amusing picture in my mind)

My daughter (the one who used to shake her head and roll her eyes when I would talk about running) told me last night as we saw a guy running - "I look at people who run differently now that I've actually ran a couple times." She also said that she hoped it stopped raining today because she wanted to run after school today
