Day 306. Its not the 306 pushups. Its having to use a calculator at 5:00am to figure out how many sets of 50 it is because of the brain fog!

For some reason, in my head, I thought "300" would be like a hump and once we were over that it would sort of level off. Nope! Not a hump! Its a hill! Happy day 314 everybody!!

HA! I did 200 one day last week and my armpits hurt for three days. That's what I get for doing them once a quarter.... I'll try to do at least 300 one day over the weekend just for good measure.

My trainer went a little crunches-and-lunges-and-squats crazy on me on both Saturday and Monday at the gym, and I am "feeling the burn" today. Good grief. I can walk ok, but up and down stairs and getting in and out of the car let me know my muscles are not happy with me today haha.

Hit the "gym" this morning for some strength work...boy have I gotten weak in the last few months. I've focused almost exclusively on running, what I actually have a drive and motivation to do, but with it getting frosty and such, I think I can move some focus off of my speed work and onto strength again. I really hate sitting around doing weights and stuff, I don't know what it is, but it bores the heck out of me (doesn't matter what type of music I blast even!). I used to have a partner to lift with, he's now doing everything from home since he had a kid, so I think that's part of why I have no interest in it.
I hope I'm sore tomorrow! Only upper body work, I don't want to mess up my running by tiring my legs out any more than I already do!

Matt, take a cue from the 45 year old Mudder. Mix up your workouts and add off the cuff, out of the box, practical strength exercises. You will get strong and still stay lean. Keep one or two days of weights in there and go hard on those days. I dont think you will be totally disappointed with the results. My workout last night included, weighted twists, pullups, dips, chin ups(over hand), military presses, lat pulls, sit ups, crunches, curls, triceps extensions and windshield wipers. Never got bored and got very tired. Also get a tire and sledge hammer! Its good exercise and screws with the neighbors heads!
