Outside the mental part of it (we like what we like), a craving for salt could be due to an imbalance of the Sodium to Potasium levels in the body. It can also be (and this happened to me), too much water. But you really have to drink quite a bit for that to happen. I was drinking two gallon jugs a day, plus coffee or tea with meals. As for the mental craving, it just takes time of controling your diet to be able to conquer the desire. That part is more habit than anything.

I've fallen off of the wagon for the last 4-5 days, but today I'm back on <hopefully>. Me too.

Thanks PITA - I think it is all mental for me :-) not the first time I have been told it is all in my head. Every day it gets easier!!

As of Yesterday, I am officially a member of the United States Air Force Reserve! I was sworn in yesterday afternoon. There was a slight change, i'm not leaving until December or January, but that's perfect for me since i have a House to Buy and a Bat Mitzvah to plan before then, and will give me time to get in shape. Super Excited!!

Nice - congratulations! (And we planned a crazy Broadway themed Bat Mitzvah for my niece last year; pushcart food and New York CheeseCake is still haunting me!)

Hey runners - Anything other than moleskin that can be used to prevent blisters? I always seem to get a blister on one of my little toes and the moleskin is too thick and causes issues.

Dr Sholls makes a small "body glide" stick, perfect for getting in between toes. The running store here just started advertising toe socks that are suppose to help prevent blisters. I haven't tried them yet but I am interested.

Go with Jen's suggestion. Trust me, nobody knows more about blisters than that girl! Also when you arent running, you still need to treat the blister. Its a wound like any other. Neosporin or something similar and a bandage during the day and keep it clean.

There. No more blisters.
I've tried the BodyGlide and that didn't help any. And the sheos are not the issue. Guess I'm off to the adult store. But how does fuzzy handcuffs prevent blisters? Jen?

Bwahahaha!
The "body glide" I use is silicone based. It doesn't sweat off like the water based versions.
What kind of socks are you wearing? You need 100% synthetic, NO cotton. Also, dont wash them in bleach or use fabric softner. It messes them up. (dont ask, I just trusted the ultramarathoner who told me)

(dont ask, I just trusted the ultramarathoner who told me) I did invest in good running socks last year - NO cotton! I did suffer through using moleskin on my run yesterday since I had the son with me and knew it would be a shorter run. This blister is so icky looking but not video worthy when I pop it.

I am glad the blister is not video worthy. No one should have to suffer through that. Just be sure to pop it on the kitchen counter to give Freak the heebie jeebies!
