Last night I saw some trailer for some new Clint Eastwood movie and the man looks like death. I'm beginning to wonder if he's really still alive.

Some time ago, some folks in the fitness industry (mostly ones selling stuff) tried to pass off the idea that you could do nearly effortless activity and get "into shape". That is a bald faced lie.
It really does hurt. More at the beginning for sure. I wont tell you that you are going to get to a point where it wont hurt. I will tell you that you will get tough enough to take it. And that you will be very glad that you did!
Running is a natural act, developed because we were at once both predator and prey. We just werent real good at it compared to everything else, so we developed weapons (well, that ...and because we have thumbs).

Thanks! I have not ran/jogged/power walked/etc since I was in high school P.E. We are having a weightloss competition at work so I really want to win! (It's % body weight so I think I have a chance) I didn't have to stop once on Monday when we started this, but the co-worker that I run with is either part centaur or half gazelle! The pace was quite brisk.....

For the first time ever, I'm dreading my vacation.

That's awesome! Keep up the good work, I know several people that have started with that program and really stuck with it. One of my coworkers started it last summer and now is averaging 60+ miles a week in walks/jogs/runs and has lost upwards of 100 pounds. It's amazing what can happen when you find the right motivation. Good luck!

I recently started running, and this is the program I am doing, too! I had to stop and restart a couple of times (shin splints and flu) and it DOES get easier (a little). You do get tougher, like BBB1 said. Plus the way you feel will make you want to stick with it. The first couple weeks are the hardest.

When I ordered my RoadID, I had an extra line and put an abbreviated version of one of my new favorite quotes. It says "POWER=COURAGE TO BEGIN". Having the courage to begin anything new (or anything you haven't done in a long while) is incredibly powerful. Stick with it! I am a recovering couch potato who now feels completely addicted to running, thinks about running gear and running apps all the time, scopes out every store for deals on tech socks and reflective gear, and feels annoyed that I have to spend so much time working because it cuts into my available running time!

lol. thanks. Mani knows already, but i'm dreading vacation because the plan was for my boyfriend of two years to move in during said vacation. instead he dumped me last weekend. now i get to spend the week with nothing to do but wallow in self pity.
