Seemed pretty apt to me as a noun to describe the congestion.
rubber-necking would be the verb that the gapers are doing.
It's been used by traffic reporters around the mid-west for as long as I can remember.

That gypsy show sets me to rubber necking no matter how I try to click on past it.

Round here we say gapers or gapers delay. Don't think I've heard gaper block too often, but it seems to be the same thing.

See, in the South, we use verbs for nouns fairly often. Maybe adjectives are even more common that verbs. grin

Looking for my sanity
Urban Tarzan. Started watching because there was nothing on TV for the 15 minutes before my daughter had to go to bed and I didn't watch to hear/see anymore Johnny Test episodes. Seriously, has anyone seen this show? I hate fake things that are presented as "real".
