I thought that I was invincible a few years ago - about 8 weeks before my first full marathon. Then one night I found myself in the ER asking if DR. Kevorkian was on call. Gallstones showed me very quickly that I was not invincible and that the unexpected can happen at any moment. Within 3 days I was in the operating room having my gall bladder removed, proving to me that parts of me at least were/are not invincible.

In other words, you got rid of your vulnerability, and now you're back to being invincible!

I'm going to stick with the Road ID. Otherwise somebody would be calling the Daily Planet to explain me laying on the ground and alot of time would be wasted looking for kryptonite....

Seriously, the Road ID is a great idea.

I had mine removed the summer before senior year of college so thankfully I won't have to worry about that during the marathon.

Where I am supposed to be
Today I am wearing a 36" waist pair of jeans. I do not believe I have worn 36" jeans since my junior high days.

Today is a good day. grin

Thank you to all on here who provide encouragement and inspiration. You are all making a difference.

Seeing the chiro tonight for an adjustment and a massage on my neck and shoulders. Should be good to go after that. Now. . . just need to figure out what I did to get that kink in the neck in the first place.

It's a great feeling, isn't it? Learn from my mistake, don't run out and buy new jeans to celebrate, in another month or two they won't fit either!

Soon your arms will be bigger around than your waist! (if not already, based on the size of those cannons laugh )

It will be awhile before that happens.

Goodwill is a great place to get the interim jeans like these. Low prices and I won't feel bad if they are too big in a little while.

And yes it is a great feeling. I have more energy and am enjoying things more.

Yeah, wish I'd gone that route. Instead I went out and bought a nice pair and they ended up at Goodwill for someone else to enjoy!

You all have no idea how much you drive and inspire me! Whats more is, you will never know how many people you see (and that see you) on a day to day basis, that you are having an impact on!
I am quite serious! As you are changing your own life, you are benefiting others! And everyone has heard me say before, you teach (especially your children) whether you want to or not. So teach something good!!

You all are a real inspiration! Keep it up!!

I wish it was more the case to be honest. I'm surrounded by people that are looking for the quick fix and I'm getting a little tired of preaching to them that they're going to be disappointed in the end.

The new rage around here is the Advocare 24-day challenge. A bunch of "vitamins", a diet plan (that's actually fairly well rounded and probably responsible for most of the results), special energy drinks that are basically just a bunch of caffeine...

People are losing 5-10 pounds in the first week, up to 25 or so during the process. I've done some research on it, seeking to find something to show them to scare them out of it, but there's not much info out there on it at all (which scares me). Apparently it's been around for 20ish years, but that tells me it can't be that great or people wouldn't be just discovering it still. It works off the same principle as the jewelry or tupperwear parties, with a person roping in all their friends then selling them on using the product. So you have someone with no knowledge beyond a sales manual giving nutrition tips and acting as an expert while distributing pills that don't have any business doing so. It's infuriating and I hope that they gain back every bit that they lose as soon as they stop taking all the carp. (little bit of a rant, I know, but I hear about the stuff every day and it's been making me mad!)

Diet pills scare me.

I hate the word "Diet" too. Heathly eating should be a lifelong thing, not a 3-month crash course.

I will leave the BOL approved Smiley off this post.

What you are doing is hard work (and few things in life are easy).

You can not get the benefits of exercise and proper diet in a bottle.

It works off the same principle as the jewelry or tupperwear parties is a great analogy. It may look good in the short term but is there realy any long term benefit.

One by one all the performence enhancement drugs have been proven to be more harmful than good. See steriods and work your way up the list.

Keep up the good work. And don't let the nonsence get to you.
