Neither am I. I don't really see the point in spending $50+ for something that's going to die in a few days.

so have people stopped jumping to conclusions about the erroneous Tom Cruise quote about acting being like serving in the military?

Yes, but there are so many other things that we could do with that $!

Also, I kind of broke him of the flower gifting habit. He used to occasionally bring them home "just because," but mostly they were apology flowers when he'd done something he felt guilty about. One evening not long after we got married and after a fairly consistent string of apology flower occasions, I walked into the kitchen and found a vase of flowers on the counter. I stuck my head around the corner and said, "Hi, honey. What'd you do this time?"

It was a long, long time before I got flowers for anything again. grin

Sounds like me and crawfish boils. They sound good in theory, but in practice, it's just too much work for seafood that really isn't as good as just about any other kind of seafood i can think of. frown

If you receive clothing from someone that is now too SMALL for said clothing, is that a 'hand-me-up'?

Two female co-workers refused my offer to hold the door for them this week. I don't know either woman, so the refusal was not out of utter disdain for me. Both were under the age of 40. Is this some new woman-thing I'm not aware of?

Did you hold the door and wave them through first, or just hold the door open behind you so they wouldn't have to open it again?

That was very nice of you. Unfortunately when I worked at our 'Main Office' we had several people who would walk up to the door, knowing that you were behind them maybe 10 feet, and go in and let the door close behind them. Sad to say, the culprits were women. I just couldn't get up enough nerve to do it back to someone, even the guilty ones.

Were you drooling while they approached?? laugh

I've never had that happen, everyone of any gender always seems to appreciate having the door held for them. I don't expect anyone to do it for me, but I was raised to be polite and such.

That being said, I've gotten more than a few looks of suspicion when I've done it. Do they think I'm going to steal their purse when they walk by or something? I don't know.

I'll never turn down a polite gesture like that. And I've done it myself for others (men and women), especially if they are carrying something.

Or scratching? Or leering? Or breathing hard?

Teenagers who work at grocery stores ON THE DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING should be busily collecting carts and resupplying the store when they're sent outside... not standing around parking lots smoking and chatting with each other while texting. eek laugh

I won't deny doing my share of leering, but I wasn't in either of these instances, and I'd like to think that I am fairly discrete about it. I'm also not considered strange or creepy, as far as I know. These were innocent, hold the door, let the woman pass by, out into the parking lot where we would be going in different directions. I understand the woman who don't want me following them up the stairs, but these two, I don't get.

Maybe they were just having a bad day and it had nothing to do with you. I wouldn't worry about it, most people I know would appreciate the gesture.
