Values are 0001 through 9999; right-justified with leading zeros or blank if Military Personnel Flag = 2

What is this referring to, an internally assigned AA Number or something else?

It is referring to the number(s) that you must assign to your assessment area(s) in your software or the FFIEC software. Each AA in the filing gets a number and a description/name.

The 18 21 etc. are referring to space numbers on the line. Start at space 18, end at space 21, element is 4 spaces long.

So Kathleen, If you have 15 Assessment Areas each would be assigned an assessment area number such as:

AA 1 - Daytona MSA
AA 2 - Ft Lauderdale MSA
AA 3 - Tampa MSA......

NOT

Daytona MSA
Ft Lauderdale MSA
Tampa MSA
Miami MSA?

There are 2 fields.

One has a number, one has a name.

If you use something like Wiz, this is happening when you set up your AA.

If you use the FFIEC software, it happens at the file set up as well.

Okay. I just opened the FFIEC software to refresh my memory. You enter the number. Like 1.

Then there is a block for an AA name, 128 character limit.
