I wish all jobs got summers off.  ^^^ THIS! My wife is a substitute teacher so she is ready for the summer break! She is already starting to "avoid" the calls in the morning.

Days like this really make you think. It's 72 and sunny and I'm revising our procedures for privately owned ATMs. Ugh.
What's getting to me is this: Every September I go to a three day family and friends golf tournament. The tourney was about five years old when I first went in 1980. I was the youngest guy there. We've brought in other generations, but now the older guys are getting really old. Wednesday, I went to the funeral home to say goodbye to one, and today I learn that another is very ill and going to have surgery on Monday. It all just reminds me that life is very short and friends are very precious, and there probably a million better ways to spend my time than writing procedures.

Amen to that MBH! But, I have to say that one meeting last fall made me appreciate what we do more, to some degree. I met a guy who asked me what I do, and when I told him it was compliance, he just kind of shook his head up and down and then I said I was one of the guys who was responsible for that whole package of documents that you don't read but that you have to sign when you get a mortgage and I said that I was sorry. He said that he appreciated the job I did because he understood that because I was doing my job making sure that the bank was doing the right thing and that his interests were protected, he could sign those documents with some modicum of confidence. It was honestly a different perspective that I hadn't thought of for a really long time and one that made me appreciate our field a little bit more than I did before. But that said, there are better ways to spend our time than writing procedures I think.
