FBI and Homeland Security on Hightened Alert heading into July 4 weekend
As Americans celebrate the country's 239th birthday, FBI and DHS remain on hightened alert following an increased threat of a terror attack. There is no "specific, credible intelligence" about an attack; only that Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has called for attacks "against members of the military, law enforcement, the U.S. government and the American public."


But yet the level is only elevated?

I think we all need to spend more time doing things we love, going to places that make us feel small, remembering to laugh at ourselves, and getting a little cold, tired, and scared every once in a while.

So as I was sitting in the waiting room yesterday and older gent was chatting up the counter girl while she was trying to do her job. Finely she noted to him he was a bit early to his appointment, like over an hour early so he might want to go get a cup or coffee or something, he said oh well I am done golfing so I figured I come chat with you nice ladies. She smiled very politely as she realized she had become his new best friend for the next hour or so. It was refreshing to see her patience.

We should have been closed today.....as well as tommorrow

So I just read about that 22 year old kid that put a firework on his head and blew himself up over the weekend. The whole group of them where drunk and his brother noted this poor boy was not the type to do something stupid.
I am thinking to myself how much more stupid does it get then drunk with class C explosives!?!?!

And not just a firecracker, but a reloadable mortar tube. Looked like a nice guy. He had played Gaston from Beauty and the Beast at WDW.

He ranks right up there with the guy down in Texas who had been warned about an 11 foot alligator, but jumped in to swim anyway.

It's all starting to make me think that excessive alcohol consumption might be a bad idea.

We had a guy near here blow most of one leg off setting off fireworks from a kayak...

I have a yellowfly bite on my ankle. It itches. A lot.

Annnddd now all my bites are itching. I swear the mosquitos and horse flies are out of control this year.

Had a small bug bite on my left forearm about a month and a half ago. after a weeks treatment of steroids it is back and all over. Doctor currently has no idea what might be going on but he said to try and limit my stress. He might put me back on steroids but that is a short term solution he noted.

We had a dog (Mitzi) when I was a kid that got scratched by the cat and ended up having a bot fly lay an egg in the wound. The sore didn't go away until my dad squeezed a big ol' larva out of her.

Perhaps you have a bot fly larva.

Today would have been much better if I was allowed to flog LO's mercilessly.

Lived here for 9 months now and finally a neighbor came over to say Hi!. The guy across the street spoke to my Uncle at Christmas but His next door neighbor come over to see me today. Her Husband died in October so I'm sure she's been busy.

I'd never heard of Johnny Marzetti before, and don't think it's something I'd want to eat. :gross:

We have lived in our house a year and only have talked to the neighbors a couple of times. The one time the lady informed me that I would be fined by the city if I blew my grass clippings in the street. Needless to say as she was walking across the street I proceeded to blow them in the middle

Let me pose this question to you then. I think our new neighbors are moving in. (There is a cluster of houses, each a couple of acres apart - far enough away that you can't quite tell what is going on.) At what point do I drop in with an apple pie to welcome them to the "neighborhood"? Like I said, I "think" they have moved in. They planned on rehabbing the place, while theirs in the suburbs was on the market, but their place sold in 36 hours. But they are still rehabbing. Do I still just drop by? Don't want to seem nosy. But don't want to seem unwelcoming either. What to do? What to do?
