Got monitoring/reporting access to the system that controls our door card access for some security auditing today from the head of IT. Viewing authority only, he said. Well, took me about 30 seconds to find the controls that allowed me to unlock doors, change the schedules for what was locked, when, etc. Being the good compliance person I am, I of course reported this to him...right after I unlocked the server room door and discovered it triggered a 30 second long constant beeping!

I debated making the whole building screech for a bit before giving myself up.

Years ago I went to a branch of our bank in a local grocery store. They had a computer for customer use in the lobby (the branch wasn't closed off at night. I got curious to see where people had been surfing the net. I was told our firewall would prevent anything 'unsavory'. Well, the history showed a bunch of porn sites and I tried to remove them and they kept popping up. I was embarrassed, but it showed the vulnerability and the computer was removed the next day. The security video showed the grocery store stockers and cleaners viewing this during the wee hours of the morning.

I think that's an excuse most parents with teenage boys are getting used to hearing. "I don't know what happened, I was doing homework and these pop-ups just started taking over!"
