I'm planning to be in Charleston, SC with my daughter and her family. If weather is not forecast good there, will shift to Greenville, SC with my other daughter and her family.
I'm 59 years old and this will be the first total eclipse of the sun I've witnessed. Praying for clear weather in one of those two locations.

First day of school for my kids. Hopefully their science teachers will plan something.

Middle of Nebraska in a Chevy.
There's a little corner of Iowa right at the IA-MO-NE border that will be in the path for a minute and a half or so. Love to see it there, but, by August, it should be covered with some guy's corn. May drive down anyway.

I am in the path of totality for over 2 minutes. I'm taking the day off to experience it and have rented space at my farm for others to witness it.

My bank is right smack in the middle of the total eclipse, so I just have to go outside. Our previous home is right in the middle of it, too, and a number of my son's friends said they were coming to stay with us that weekend, uninvited of course. But I think they all forgot we moved 50 miles north 8 years ago, and our current home is just outside the path.

Southern Idaho is supposedly the second best place in the nation to view the eclipse. We are expecting 200,000 to 1 million visitors that weekend. I won't be able to enjoy it much because that is the start of our FDIC exam.

I'm a little younger than you, Beech, but I remember one when I was grown working at my former bank...it was eerily creepy but very, very cool!

So far, I've heard of 5 different cities that claim to be the "epicenter." According to the video linked above, it's Carbondale, IL. (That figures, it's near where Mary Beth was born, an appropriate tribute.)

I won't be able to enjoy it much because that is the start of our FDIC exam. We are driving a couple hours south, to Rexburg, to see it in totality. I figured this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I hope my kiddos remember it. Our little corner of the world hasn't had this kind of eclipse view since 1918. I've always been fascinated by astronomy, and am totally excited about it!

If I'm still working in Nashville then, I will be in the path of totality. However at home, it will be 0.9 to Totality - closer to totality so I will not need to go anywhere.

If I'm looking at that silly graph right, I suppose I'm in a .9 as well...so all's good maybe?

If your observation points are close to parks or areas where there are a lot of birds, you'll have fun watching them go to roost like it's sundown. They don't know the difference!

I already bought enough solar eclipse glasses for us and our family from Amazon as I figure they'll be in high demand closer to the date. I've already had them on hand now for a couple of months.

Just remember at .9 you will not be able to look at the sun without special glasses at any point during the eclipse. Those in totality will be able to look without the glasses during the period of totality.

How cool! I'm not in the path of totality (West Virginia) but I'm pretty close and will get to see a good chunk of it. I'll have to make sure to get some viewing glasses soon!
Too bad it won't wait a week, lol - my husband and I are going to Alabama that week and would be hitting the path of totality right around the time it's supposed to happen.
