JennJ, that's pretty cool. Sounds like you really like your Model 3. Were you on the waiting list?
I'd love to find a used Model S as I've read that the batteries last a lot of miles and don't diminish much over time.

Tesla owner here, EV chargers are EVERYWHERE. 75% of hotels have at least one, a lot of major shopping centers. I have never had an issue finding a place to charge my car. Road Trips do take a bit more planning, but one thing I've noticed is that on major routes, Tesla places super chargers at very convenient intervals. A supercharger can take my Model 3 from a basically dead battery to full in about an hour. What I find myself doing is topping off at a charger for 20-30 minutes. Another Tesla owner I know is taking a trip from Texas to Virginia this summer and has planned the charging stations they will be stopping at along the way. Its pretty amazing! and i can fill up my honda with gas when i leave home and drive all the way to my parents on that same tank without having to plan for stops along the way to recharge anything...sure, the Tesla is cool, but for my driving, inconvenient as it stands today. now, when they get that George Jetson flying car up and working, i'm all in...

I always get a kick too out of the people who think that because their 8 year old is the best one on their current team, he always will be and can start planning on his future in that sport beyond grade school, middle school, and high school. I knew and saw lots of kids who were the best on their team at 8 who weren't even close to the best on their team by age 13 or 15 or 17, and i knew and saw lots of kids who weren't even close to the best on their team at 8 who turned into the best on their team by age 13, 15, or 17.

I'm all about taking a sport seriously, even at a young age (by seriously i mean....i'm not a fan of those tee-ball games with kids picking daisies....not sure what that accomplishes).....but parents have to be realistic....

My two daughters were pretty good 3 sport athletes, but I never took it too seriously. There were parents who were counting on scholarships and I used to just shake my head. My favorite line to the girls was "Soccer is never going to pay the bills, enjoy playing but make sure your homework is done." One is a nurse and the other is in nursing school. It was great watching my kids play, but I sure enjoy all the spare time now.

I guess i would put it this way for my opinion:
I think kids, as soon as they possibly can, should take sports seriously (and i'm not saying ALL kids....sports aren't for everyone....if a kid isn't into sports.....that's great too).
I think parents should encourage their kids' interest in sports without becoming crazy lunatics about it.

There are no charging stations here for sure. in major metro areas, and airports I've seen them but not in more rural areas like where I live. Even other technologies like CNG is not readily available here. When shopping for a car for my son I came across a few CNG vehicles and just out of curiosity looked to wee where the nearest place to fuel it would be - it's about 40 miles from here and we live near a major interstate highway.

It drives me nuts when parents de-prioritize things like Scouts for sports. The odds are so much higher that your kid will get scholarships for completing a Girl Scout Gold Award or a Boy Scout Eagle Award than ever getting any money for sports. Golds / Eagles even get you rank advancements in the US military - sports ain't gonna do that.

We have a charging station at an outdoor mall about 20 minutes from my office that has probably 6 charging portals. I'm sure there are others I'm not aware of.
I would be open to an EV, range anxiety be da**ed.

Do they police to verify that only green vehicles are parking there? Or is it like the compact car parking? I've seem huge vehicles block stairways in parking garages when compact spots are put in the most desirable places. ( I also worked at one bank with a big parking lot, that had compact car parking but it was all in the back of the lot! I don't think they understood the purpose of compact parking!)
