I will start by saying I am not located in a heavy military area, so my experience with these websites is limited. I have always used the SCRA site to run customers that might be military through. I have received both positive and non-positive responses. Today we had a customer come in that reported military income. I ran him through the SCRA site and did not get a positive hit. Looking a little closer at the credit report he was showing as a match to the MLA database. I came to BOL and read about the new changes where we needed a log-in and password for the MLA site. I signed up and got a positive hit on this customer.

My question is why did I get a hit on the MLA but not the SCRA? I would think they would access the same data base? My husband is retired military so I do have an understanding of the military background.

I figured someone who deals with this on a daily basis could answer this question easier than me trying to research and assume.

In theory the sites should be the same for the servicemember (SM) and the MLA site should have dependent info.

I called the DMDC and asked about this once and was told in no uncertain terms, use each site for its intended purpose. "But for the SM they would be the same, right?" and the response was "use each site for its intended purpose" so that is what I recommend when teaching SCRA.

These are two different databases, but in my opinion the core info on the SM who is active should be the same. Your experience tells me, "use each site for its intended purpose."

Thank you Andy! I will just use both so I know that I have done as much due diligence as I can.
