My daughter and her husband are moving to Alaska in May. My only other daughter lives in Florida. I'm in the Midwest and going to be very lonely.

MB Guy, she has been straight laced so far. Too scared to kicked out of sports to be wild. I'm sure she'll get into mischief up there. LOL

Susielou, I am so sorry your kiddos live and are moving so far away. My son and his family are 7.5 hours (one way) away from us; sure can't just hop in the car and go for a visit. Feel like my granddaughter is growing up without me, Portal is great but not like being there in person. I may relocate after I retire if they promise me they will not move again.

Cheekee, you're not old yet. When I started on BOL, my oldest daughter was a senior in high school. She's now married with a 5 year old and 4 year old sons. And my youngest daughter, who was in the 7th grade then is also married now with a 6 year old son. Got you beat by a mile!

My step-daughter made us rag quilts for Christmas. In March, after purchasing the machine and all of the tools needed, she came and taught me how to create these. Now I'm OBSESSED! She calls it old lady crack - and she's not wrong.

Skittles, after my grandmother had a stroke her therapist got her started with a knitting loom. After a while she had made so many afghans that she couldn't give them away!

If you have an Apple TV subscription, I highly encourage you to check out the movie "CODA". CODA stands for "child of deaf adults". My wife and I watched it last night. We've spent some time with a church where we used to live working with deaf ministry and have several deaf friends. This movie did a fabulous job of depicting deaf culture as well as the pressures on a young teenage girl who is forced to be the hearing interpreter for her family as she tries to also navigate the process of finding out who she is, dealing with first love, and all the other things that go along with that age. It was an outstanding movie.

I work with (and grew up in the same community as) a woman whose parents were both deaf.
