had a soccer match at 7:00 PM last night, heat index was 95 at start, 89 at finish, lost 7 pounds in liquid over a 2 hour period...just brutal...come o Saharan dust to provide cooling coverage!

Heat indexes have been running 5-17 degrees hotter than the actual temperatures the last couple of weeks. Here are the forecast high temps (actual temps, not heat indexes) in my little town for the next 15 days:

101, 98, 101, 101, 98, 100, 104, 102, 102, 101, 102, 103, 102, 101, 100......that gets me to July 10th.

Heat indexes been moving below 100 about 10 o'clock at night.

Haven't had a 90 degree day here yet, but over 7 inches of rain so far this month and 14 inches since the beginning of May. We have had a heat index 1 day go over 90. I have heard the number of 90 degree days will be less than average here this year. (We live about an hour north of Minneapolis/St. Paul.

We were really rainy in April, May (but that's typical and we'd be hurting otherwise, since summers are extremely dry here) and even the first half of June (not typical). Honestly, if it weren't for my dogs, i'd just shrug my shoulders and say "it sure is hot" and go on.....but the heat is really rough on my dogs.

In the interest of fairness, i feel obligated to say: it's been hot so far this summer, but not as bad as i was anticipating (banging hard on wood, since August and September and even October are still ahead). The best thing is....we might get 7-10 days of hot weather (i'm calling it hot if the heat index is over 100)....but then we get at least a few days of relief. For example, heat index was 108 on Tuesday........but supposed to top out at 91 today, and even chances of rain this weekend. Highs for most of next week look to be high 80s...that's called relief around here.

Last July was definitely worse than this month has been, so i'm counting that as a win. Hopefully, i can say the same thing about August.

ETA: Oh...and i don't know if i have ever seen it so green in mid-July. Farmers and ranchers around here have to be happy.
