Most all of you out there will remember him as "Ducky" Mallard on NCIS, but to me he will forever be my first pre-teen crush, Illya Kuryakin on the Man From UNCLE (all non-boomers will have to look it up).

Russ Francis--(former NE Patriot TE, killed in a plane crash) at 70 years old.

Actually, Russ Francis died in a plane crash in a Cessna 177 that he was flying and his passenger was Richard McSpadden, former commander of the USAF Thunderbirds and most recent head of aviation safety programs at the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Assocation (AOPA). Francis was one of my very first favorite Patriot players and McSpadden was well known in the pilot community as a strong advocate for aviation safety. I always enjoyed his writings and podcasts. I was especially saddened at this loss of both of these men.

Holy Moly! If ever there were two "safe" pilots to fly with, these would be them! Does anyone know what happened? Very sad indeed.

hall of fame football legend Dick Butkus, 80. One of the toughest, dirtiest, and funniest to ever play the game.

Pretty amazing that one draft netted the Bears two absolute legends and HOFers.....Butkus and Gale Sayers. May they both rest in peace.

Burt Young, 83 - was surprised to learn he was in over 160 films and TV shows...

Richard Roundtree, 81 - actor best known for starring in 70s hit Shaft...

Matthew Perry -54 - so young and so sad. most notable character, Chandler Bing on Friends.

Tyler Christoper - 50 - Soap opera actor who played Nikolas Cassadine on General Hospital and Stefan DiMera on Days of Our Lives.
So sad, two young men just this week.

Bobby Knight - 83 The General and my favorite coach of all time. A sad day for sports...

Sad day indeed. Obviously a controversial guy and not perfect, but did a lot of good in the world too.

Walter Davis--former NBA player and the all-time leading scorer for the Phoenix Suns, at age 69.

Cody Dorman--young man for whom the horse Cody's Wish (Breeder's Cup Mile winner this weekend) was named and had a special relationship with, at age 17.

Frank Borman, NASA astronaut and later Eastern Airlines CEO - age 95. He commanded Apollo 8 in December 1968. He and his crew became the first humans to orbit the moon.

Jimbo Fisher's college coaching career, at least for now, with a mere $73,000,000 to console him

Craziest headline i saw on social media over the weekend was speculating that Dan Lanning of Oregon might be the guy who replaces him. Why would he leave a successful program at Oregon for that dumpster fire?

You are right - that is a crazy headline. Although the opportunity to be paid many millions of dollars NOT to work could be attractive to some. I think the only reason he'd move is if one of the true elites (not A&M) offered him a pot of gold, or if his family is just not comfortable in a climate that is as far from the South as you can get. (And I mean climate in every sense it can be taken.)

Lanning currently has a 6 year contract of $29.1 million...an extra $44,000,000 could go a long way to a comfortable retirement

I agree with rainman...Lanning would leave for a true SEC elite program, which a&m pretends to be, but isn't.
