Hello,
Is there anything in Reg B that prohibits a lender from gathering demographic information from a borrower? I know it prohibits discrimination based on that data and other info, but there is a discussion if the Reg actually prohibits the collection of it. I can't find anything about that or if they are confusing that with another Reg?

1002.5 (b) Limitation on information about race, color, religion, national origin, or sex. A creditor shall not inquire about the race, color, religion, national origin, or sex of an applicant or any other person in connection with a credit transaction, except as provided in paragraphs (b)(1) and (b)(2) of this section.

Or unless it is required under 1002.13 or HMDA.
