Regulation E 1005.9(b)(2) states that a periodic statement should include the "Account Number—The number of the account." Due to mail theft and the possibility of check fraud, we are looking at masking part of the account number and only including the last four digits. Is there a problem with only showing the last four digits of the account number on the statement?

There is no current regulatory support for truncating account numbers on periodic statements.
